A record of Euphydryas c. chalcedona photographed at Grizzly Flat Fire Rd. on the south slope of the western San Gabriel Mountains, Angeles National Forest. This gregarious species had a large thriving colony at this location when I first disovered it in July 2006. The population perished in the massive 09 Station Fire and I've been documenting its gradual recovery.
