Why I created SolarDarkroom...
I love to spend time in the Sun and photography allows me to take it home with me. I spend many nights in my digital darkroom trying to render the raw feelings that inspired me in the moment and share it with you. That's where the name comes from...that and needing a domain so you can find me!
I first picked up a camera in 1996 and discovered a special affinity for close-up and macro photography. I continue to be inspired by the hidden world that lies so close to all of us but remains veiled by the sensory noise of modern life. Butterflies became an engrossing photographic subject when I moved to California and the more I learn about the nature of these creatures the more compelling the process has become for me. Another subject I've found plentiful on the west coast is actors! It's always fun to photograph subjects that I don't have to sneak up on! Be sure to check out the Headshots page for more on that...
